Results from Arizona and Florida Post Season Tournaments

Florida

Congratulations to the 65 Chicago Sprit managed by Al Paveza as winners of the Championship in their division at the Roy Hobbs Tournament. They were 7 and 2 overall.

The 60 Chicago Wind managed by Wes Monti made to the semi finals in the same tournament , details to follow. The 55 Chicago Fire managed by Bart Zeller lost in the quarter finals after a successful run. More info to follow.

Congratulations to the 45 Chicago Express who played in the Fall Classic in Florida this past Week. The Express ( managed by Scott Hovance) won seven in a row before falling the Championship game by a score of 4 to 3.

Congratulations to Ed Gunther and the members of the Delco Bandits team out of Delaware Valley, Pa. in their Championship win in the 52's in the Fall Classic. Joining Ed were Rick Wilson, Duryel Thomas, Bob Korvas, Larry Sweet and Don Cooper, all members of the 45/55 Sea Dogs.

Arizona

Congratulations to all of the managers and players representing Chicago North in the 2008 MSBL World Series in Arizona this past month.

We sent one 25 metal team to the 25 Central Division, the Seminoles(managed by Mike Cibelli) and they went undefeated to win the Championship.

We sent one 35 metal team to the 35 Mountain Division, the Cubs (managed by Tony "Doc" Niezyniecki) they lost only one game coming in first and going on to win the Championship as well.

We sent two 45 metal teams to the Central , the Fire (managed by Chuck Scheidt) and TSP Lookouts (managed by Max Reising), both teams came in second in their respective brackets going on to win the quarter final games but losing in the semi's, had they both won they would have played each other in the Championship game.

We sent a 45 wood team to the Central, the Cubs (managed by Lou Gordon), they came in first in their division, won the quarter final but lost the semi-final game.

We sent a 55 wood bat team to the American Division , the Bears (managed by Dan Korvas) , they qualified for the playoffs but lost their first playoff game.

We sent a 55 wood bat team to the Central, the Cubs (managed by Dan Gooris), they went undefeated in the round robin, won their semi final game and lost in the Championship game by a score of 5 to 4.

We sent a 60 wood team to the American, the Skyliners (managed by Bart Zeller and Steve Faigin), they came in 2nd in the round robin but lost their playoff game.

We sent a 65 wood team to the National, the Skyliners (managed by Al Paveza) , they were 5 and 1 in the round robin won their semi but lost in the Championship game.

We sent two father and son teams, the Grizzlies/Brewers to the Central managed by (Rick Sorci, Gary Nollin and Joe Schwenk) and the TSP Cubs to the American (managed by Max Reising). Both teams had identical 1 and 3 records but were only a couple of runs away from making the playoffs with Cubs losing their first two games by identical scores of 7 to 6.

Our non father and son teams were a combined 42 wins, 10 losses and 2 ties in the round robin and 10 and 7 in the playoff rounds for a combined 52 W, 17 L & 2 T's.
