  • There is a switch box on the electrical cabinet for the lights at Oakton. You no longer have to open the cabinet doors to turn the lights on or off.
  • The Team in the first base dugout will be responsible for turning the lights on and off. Be courteous to the other team and make sure the field and dugouts are vacant prior to turning off the lights. (The Bryskier Rule.) The lights are to be off at Midnight unless the game is still going on. The parking lot needs to be empty and closed at midnight as well.
  • If field is wet, do not under any circumstances alter the physical condition of the mound, home plate area or any other parts of the field. Dragging and raking the dirt is allowable. Do not put the dirt on the grass. If tarps are available, put them on the mound and on the home plate area if there is a forecast of rain.
  • A porta-potty will be provided. USE IT.
  • Warm ups are not permitted anywhere in the infield area, either foul or fair. Warm up in the outfield only.
  • Clean all debris from the dugout and parking lot.
  • Do not park or drive on the grass anywhere in the complex.
Bensenville
  • At the end of the last game, the team in the first base dugout is responsible for putting the bases away in the large beige metal storage box by the electric room under the grandstand on the first base side of home.
  • Use the dirt paths to home plate from the on deck area. Enter and exit the infield (dugouts) through the expanded coaching boxes at first and third base.
  • Infield practice is not allowed. Batting practice on the field is prohibited--use the hitting tunnels adjacent to the softball field. When hitting balls in the outfield from foul territory, please stand on the warning track area.
  • No soft toss against the fences.
  • Do not warm up in foul territory adjacent to the infield.
  • No alcohol in the grandstand or on stadium grounds.
PRE-GAME MEETING:
  • During the pre-game meeting with the umpires, each manager will provide the opposing manager a copy of his printed roster with the players and their jersey numbers listed. Those players not present should be crossed off, and the starting batting order should be listed also. Ground rules will then be discussed.
HOTLINE PROCEDURE AND USE
Reporting Game Scores and Highlights on Hot-Line:
  • To leave the score and/or highlights of a game, listen to the broadcast message greeting, wait for the tone and then leave your message. If you don’t want to listen to the entire greeting press # to go directly to the tone for leaving a message. The winning team must call in the final score within the hour immediately following the end of the game. Do not wait until the next morning!
  • Managers are to report the final score and are encouraged to add comments about the winning pitcher, pertinent game highlights, home runs, and any other stories of interest about the game. Managers are also to report any ejections, or any unusual circumstances regarding the umpires including but not limited to: failure to have 2 umpires at the game, tardiness of umpires, problems of any kind, be it knowledge of rules or on field conduct. We will use the theory that no news is good news. If we do not hear anything, we will assume all went well.
Hot-Line Weather Updates:
  • For games scheduled to be played Monday through Friday, the Hot-Line will be updated to reflect a change in the playing status of Bensenville, Meadowhill, Recreation Park and Oakton Community College between 04:15 and 04:30 PM. For games scheduled to be played on Saturday and Sunday, the Hot-Line will be updated one hour and fifteen minutes (01:15) prior to the start time of the first game if appropriate.
 Sunday Protocol:
  • This procedure must be followed on Sundays where Bensenville, Meadowhill & Oakton have not officially cancelled games. If games have been cancelled for all day, we do not play. In the event that the earlier game is cancelled due to rain or wet field and Oakton did not cancel the game, the managers are required to access the situation and call the league official on duty in order to make a decision for the balance of the day's schedule. Conditions may warrant adjusting the rest of the schedule if possible. If the field is terrible and the weather report is bad for the rest of the day, all games should be cancelled. Please call the hotline and the league scheduler to cancel the remaining schedule for the day.
  • Remember, this may carry on into later parts of the day, so managers are asked to take charge and make some intelligent decisions, as well as monitor the hotline.
